How To Rank Number 1 for Keywords, The Guide

The Formula

Usually, people cram a bunch of "fluff" at the beginning of a post, but instead I'll just cut right to the chase. Your wondering how to rank #1 for search engine results for specific keywords? It's not as hard as you think, and you may find some information here that you didn't think about before.

The Tricks

Let's say for example, you wanted to rank #1 for the keywords "make money online" like many of other online money making people want to do. It's not too hard really, basically what you want to do is to get other people to write content on their websites which points to your website, and when they write it they need to insert the keywords of "make money online" somewhere within the article that links to your site.

  • Ask people to write a review about your website and/or product for a chance to win a cash prize. For example, write an article on your website asking people to write a review on THEIR website for a chance to win $200. People like money, and writing an article that takes them 5 minutes for a chance to win the cash prize is pretty easy. If your site is about "making money online" you can bet that they will say that in some shape or form in their article.
  • Write a e-book, or even a real book, and make sure it actually has good information in it. Why? Because you want people to write about it, but not because your literally trying to sell the book, but another reason altogether. What is this book going to be called? Anything basically that sounds good, just make sure it has the keywords "make money online" in the title. For example, "A Newbie Guide to Making Money Online" or "Nine Steps of Making Money Online Successfully", etc. Why is this important? Because when people write on their blog/site "check out this book, it's called 'Nine Steps of Making Money Online Successfully' which was very helpful, and it's free!". The keywords are stuffed right in there, nice and cozy like.
  • Get a domain name that has "make money online" in it. You know as well as I do, that having this is a very helpful tool in ranking #1 for your keyword(s). Is www.makemoneyonline.com taken? Then if your really keen on still having those keywords, try something like www.makemoneyonlinewithus.com or something of that nature. You think it's a stinky website address? No biggie, just write some general content on there about your keywords, then forward it to your REAL website.
  • Every so often while your writing about making money online you should bold it, or use header tags (aka H1, H2, etc). Do NOT go wild with this, only do this every now and then. For example, if you have a 4 paragraph article, I would only do this a maximum of 1-2 times in the article.
  • Use SHORT URL's to rank better. For example, your site is www.yoursite.com/make-money-online.html. It's very straight-forward for search engines to read, and it's not cluttered with a bunch of numbers and other useless information that search engines either get confused over, or just outright disregard.
  • Don't spam your site to death with your keywords, search engines dislike that and may rank you lower in organic search results because of that fact. Be natural, and be original. On top of that, don't cram as many PPC and affiliate ads on your site, it's well-believed that having too many ads on your site can actually lower your organic search results because search engines will consider your site an affiliate trap.
  • Use Social News sites, such as Digg. Your not really using it to drive traffic to your site, that's only a plus. Your using it to strategically tuck that "make money online" into your article header and information. For example, you Digg an article named "Bob Made $40,000 last month from making money online". Yes, that's a generic example, but you get the point. Don't forget about doing the same type of thing with Youtube and other sites like that. If it's free and/or cheap, and allows you to add your link in there, do it.

Some good start up tips on building links. Another thing you can do is to guest blog on other blogs in your niche. They will usually give you a "dofollow" link to go with your article.

lesterd2009, Thanks for stopping by!

FindYourSearch, that's true, and that is also an excellent way to have the keywords that you want in your article the way you want it, assuming that he/she is letting you put your link in or around the keywords.

Hi! ...Useful info...however the example you have taken "make money online" is one of the toughest to get 1 position and with these technique one can never get to the front page of google, yahoo or bing.

However, for long tail keywords, if you want to rank well then these the basic steps to begin with... --Thanks

I wouldn't say it's impossible, but tough yes. I even wrote another hub on exactly that a while back. It's called "Keywords Make Money Online - Captain Ahab's Great White Whale? It Worth It?".

Some of the big players for those keywords are, John Chow, Carl Ocab, Steve Pavlina, among others. Although, not all of them are ranking high for it anymore as it fluctuates a bit. Carl Ocab was the 13 year old blogger, and the reason why I believe he ranked so high is because he was on the front page of many news sites, which also contained the keywords "Make Money Online". John Chow's been striving for it for a long time, if you look at his blog title he stuffs it in there 2 times from that alone. His recent book even stuffs the keywords "Make Money Online" in the title, so when people talk about it, it stuffs that keyword phrase in there nice and cozy like.

good try, but think about it have you actually ranked number one for that keyword this guide can be very misleading, its extremely hard to rank for a word like that. you can, but you have to understand you cannot give advice on a topic you haven't actually been involved in, make money online is one of the most hardest keywords to rank for in this niche. Target more longer keywords like can you make money on Hubpages for example this is a lot easier for beginners to rank for. I typed the keyword of this hub into google and this hub is nowhere to be seen, how can you give people advice on things you havent accomplished? Make a hub about something you know about
