Avatar Toys & Collectibles

I've been a huge fan of James Cameron's Avatar, that is no secret. I've heard so many people discussing it and praising it that eventually I got around to seeing it myself. The movie was great! I have family members that are young (and some older) that would love to get their hands on some of the Avatar toys for various reasons, such as to actually play with or to collect and re-sell later. So with that I built up a list of the most popular Avatar toys and collectibles.

She is a Na'vi princess of the Omaticaya Clan on the world of Pandora. She is the daughter of Eytukan and Mo'at. She will be the future Tsahìk of the tribe, with her mate becoming the Olo'eyktan (clan leader). She is tall and beautiful, driven by morality and the love of life, as well as a very skilled huntress and warrior.

This is the number one bought item from what I could find, but it makes sense doesn't it? I mean, wouldn't you expect this to be the number one item too? There are two popular choices, one choice is the toy, and the other which would suit collectors much better, being that it's higher quality. If you want it to sit on your shelf and look pretty, pick up the better version.

Jake is experienced military soldier who was wounded in a previous battle before coming to Pandora. He received this opportunity because his twin brother was killed before the beginning of the storyline, and they needed someone to take his brother's place who shares his DNA. Jake is the central character which the movie's storyline is told.

You can't have Neytiri without Jake, and vice versa. It's just not right. I would highly recommend getting this along with Neytiri because they are both central characters in the movie. Jake has both the high quality version and, as well as the normal version, as well as the human form. If your going to get Jake, you may want to consider getting the human form as well, especially if you want to reenact bits of the movie. There are actually two versions of his human form as well, his clean-cut version, and his shaggy version, which is after he's been on the planet for a while.

One of the most popular items to get aside from the action figures, is the mounts. You see them riding either the land mount or the flying mount in a large portion of the movie.

If your pressed for cash, I would say get at least the Na'vi Banshee and the Dire Horse, minimum. They are riding those two in particular during the bulk of the movie. If you have some extra cash to spend, get the Thanator and the Leonopteryx, which are both feared and respected. Here is an interesting fact, the Leonopteryx is the most popularly purchased mount, yet you would think it would be one of the others. Sometimes the world is quite strange. Perhaps people want to re-create one of the last scenes of the movie? Perhaps so!

You can't have the good, without the bad. Fortunately the toy companies give you a lot to choose from in regards to the Resources Development Administration (RDA). If you don't know much about the movie, or haven't seen it yet, let's just say that these guys are the bad guys in the movie. Yes, the humans are the evil people in the movie!

If your only going to buy a few RDA action figures, I would get the most scene ones within the movie. They are Colonel Miles Quatrich, Parker Selfridge, Corporal Lyle Wainfleet, and Private Sean Fike.

For some of these from what I can tell, is that there are both regular versions and the high-quality movie masters versions. Just click on the one you want, it should say under related items on the Amazon site if your looking for the Movie Masters editions.

I've decided to group all of these into one category, and not put them into the RDA category, even though they were and/or are a part of RDA. These are the people that switched sides to the Na'vi and fight the RDA, or at least sympathize with their cause.

If your only going to get a few of these, I would recommend at least picking up the most notable characters of the Avatar movie. Such as Dr. Grace Augustine, Dr. Norm Spellman, and Trudy Chacon. Those are the big three that you see throughout the movie. Some of them have both their Avatar forms and their human forms, so if your going to pick them up I suggest getting both of each.

If you don't know much about these characters, I'll summarize them a bit for you. Grace Augustine is the head of the Avatar Program on Pandora, Norm Spellman was a new arrival and is an Avatar Driver who arrived on the same ship as Jake Sully, and Judy Chacon was the pilot who brought them out to their scientific expeditions.

You'll see these a lot throughout the movie, the list goes from the most notable to the least seen, yet all equally important if your trying to have variety in your collection. You'll see the RDA Scorpion Gunship throughout the movie as it plays a variety of roles, from simple transport to military action. You'll see plenty of the RDA Combat suits as well, from patrolling the RDA compound to seeing them in action out in the field. I would say these two are a must if your getting something for the RDA to ride around in.

The RDA Military Grinder I don't remember seeing in the movie, but it is pretty high up on the popularity list for Avatar vehicles. I guess they just wanted an 'extra vehicle' to go along with all the mounts that the Na'vi have. I would say that this is probably the least important vehicle to get, but if your trying to get it all, then grab it.

I recommend getting a couple of these at least, so your Jake and Neytiri don't feel so alone! Eytukan is the leader of the Na'vi tribe, and Tsu Tey is the next in line. Both are very large presence within the Avatar storyline and shouldn't be missed.

I didn't see Mo'at listed anywhere, which I find very strange. I mean, she didn't have a huge role in the movies, but her role was quite important. Yet, on that token, they have Akwey who is the leader of the horse clan, which wasn't a big role either. Perhaps they figured that Akwey would sell more or something, but either way they have both Eytukan and Tsu Tey which are both very important and great additions to have.
